Senior Java Developer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Developer to join a growing engineering team building post‑trade technology solutions in a cloud‑first environment. You will work on business‑critical applications, APIs, client reporting platforms and web portals, customizing sophisticated trading systems used across capital markets.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and enhance Java‑based applications, APIs and web platforms.
• Customize and extend third‑party trading systems.
• Build scalable microservices and distributed applications.
• Write clean, maintainable, test‑driven code using SOLID principles and design patterns.
• Translate business requirements into technical solutions in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Mentor and support developers, promoting engineering excellence.
• Collaborate with global development teams and contribute to Agile delivery.
• Leverage AI tools to improve developer productivity throughout the software development lifecycle.

Required profile

• 7+ years of commercial Java development experience.
• Previous experience within Financial Services, preferably in capital markets, clearing or prime brokerage.
• Strong understanding of multi‑threading, performance optimisation and profiling.
• Experience building microservices and working with TDD and automated testing.
• Excellent stakeholder communication and problem‑analysis skills.
• Desirable experience in team leadership or mentoring.
