Senior Java Developer – SC Cleared – £650 PD Hybrid

About the role

We are looking for experienced Senior Java Developers to join a high‑performing Agile engineering team delivering large‑scale digital services used by millions across the UK. The role is SC cleared, hybrid, and based on a 12‑month contract.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and maintain Java‑based microservices.
• Build secure, scalable RESTful APIs for internal and external consumers.
• Create automated test suites using Test‑Driven Development (TDD) and Behaviour‑Driven Development (BDD).
• Collaborate in Agile delivery teams, participating in pair programming and code reviews.
• Support CI/CD pipelines and provide occasional 2nd‑line application support.
• Contribute to technical discussions, architecture decisions and engineering improvements.

Required profile

• Strong commercial experience with Java 21 (or later).
• Proven expertise in TDD/BDD and building large‑scale microservice architectures.
• Solid Agile delivery background and experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Good understanding of Linux/Unix operating systems.
• Excellent communication skills with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
