Senior Java Engineer – Customer Fulfilment

About the role

We are building a next‑generation, dynamic and scalable Fulfilment platform for Tesco that will automate both manual and robotic order fulfilment across all customer order locations. The platform, called Fulfilment Point System (FPS), will support grocery, general merchandise and fashion orders, providing real‑time visualisation and workflow management for multiple fulfilment centres.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop and implement Java‑based micro‑service components for the new fulfilment platform.
• Build robust, scalable backend APIs and data‑layer services using PostgreSQL and Couchbase.
• Create and maintain CI/CD pipelines, Docker containers and Kubernetes deployments.
• Collaborate with the full‑stack team to deliver rich UI features and real‑time event processing.
• Participate in DevOps practices, monitoring, and performance tuning using tools such as Splunk, AppDynamics and New Relic.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a senior software engineer developing large‑scale Java applications.
• Strong understanding of micro‑service architecture and event‑driven systems.
• Experience working in an Agile, DevOps‑focused environment.
