Senior JVM Software Engineer (Scala/Java)

About the role

We are looking for a Senior JVM Software Engineer to join a high‑performance finance team building a distributed calculation engine for financial indices and quantitative models. The role is primarily backend‑focused, delivering new functionality for a business‑critical platform.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement new features for a distributed calculation engine.
• Own the end‑to‑end development lifecycle, from concept through production.
• Optimize performance and tune JVM settings in a production environment.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to ensure robust, scalable solutions.
• Maintain high code quality through testing, clean‑code practices, and CI/CD pipelines.

Required profile

• Senior‑level software engineering experience with JVM technologies.
• Proven commercial experience in Scala or Java.
• Background building complex backend or distributed systems.
• Strong grasp of concurrency, design patterns, and testing methodologies.
• Ability to work independently, take ownership of technical problems, and communicate decisions clearly.
