Senior Laboratory Technician (Internal Promotion)

About the role

Alfred H Knight offers an internal progression opportunity for a Senior Laboratory Technician in Dundonald. Working closely with the Deputy Laboratory Manager, you will supervise daily laboratory operations across fuel testing streams (coal, coke, biomass, RDF, SRF) and ensure high analytical throughput.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily laboratory activities and manage workloads across multiple fuel testing streams.
• Maintain full ISO 17025 compliance and ensure auditable laboratory records.
• Process and validate analytical data unsupervised prior to final authorisation.
• Maintain, calibrate and troubleshoot laboratory equipment in line with ISO guidelines.
• Mentor and coach team members, supporting their development.

Required profile

• Proven capability in processing and validating analytical data without supervision.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory quality standards, operating practices and compliance procedures.
• Hands‑on experience in a laboratory analytical setting and collaboration across operational levels.
• Standard Grade or Higher in Maths/English and a Science subject; HNC/HND desirable.
• Ability to lead, supervise and coach a team effectively.
