Senior Lawyer – Children’s Law

About the role

We are looking for a highly motivated Senior Lawyer with specialist expertise in children’s law to join a dedicated team supporting the Council. The role involves providing high‑quality legal advice and representation on a range of safeguarding matters.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice and representation in safeguarding of children cases.
• Conduct private and public Children Act proceedings, adoption, forced marriage and FGM matters.
• Handle education law and immigration issues related to child welfare.
• Collaborate with team members to analyse complex legal issues and develop solutions.
• Present complex legal information in clear, accessible formats for stakeholders.
• Manage a caseload efficiently, meeting all deadlines.

Required profile

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience in children’s law, especially advising and conducting proceedings.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.
• Confidence to work independently while seeking support when needed.
