Senior LC-MS Analytical Chemist

About the role

Our client, a specialist contract testing company based in Bedford, is seeking a Senior LC‑MS Analytical Chemist to join their environmental and pesticide analysis team. The role offers a permanent, full‑time position in a fast‑paced, ISO‑17025 accredited laboratory.

Key responsibilities

• Analyse environmental and pesticide samples, including sample extraction and preparation.
• Develop, validate and run LC‑MS, LC‑MS/MS and HPLC methods for quantitative analysis.
• Supervise and train junior laboratory staff.
• Manage multiple projects, ensuring timely delivery and accurate reporting.
• Maintain laboratory housekeeping, prepare stocks, reagents and solutions.
• Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting and calibration of analytical equipment.

Required profile

• Degree in Chemistry or related discipline (or equivalent accredited laboratory experience).
• Several years’ experience in a UKAS/ISO‑17025 accredited environmental testing laboratory.
• Proven LC‑MS experience, preferably with method development and validation.
• Experience training or supervising junior staff.
• Ability to work efficiently in a high‑throughput laboratory environment.
• Right to work in the UK without sponsorship.
