Senior Legal Counsel – Construction (Hybrid)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Legal Counsel with a construction focus to join a leading organisation delivering major, long‑term programmes. The role is hybrid (3 days in the Edgbaston office, 2 days remote) and offers a salary between £60,000 and £77,000 per year.

Key responsibilities

• Lead legal support on complex, high‑value procurement exercises and contract management matters.
• Provide expert advice across construction contracts, intellectual property, insurance, information governance and operational issues.
• Act as a trusted adviser to senior business stakeholders and project teams.
• Deliver legal training, share knowledge and promote best‑practice initiatives.
• Manage relationships with external law firms, ensuring specialist expertise and capacity.
• Oversee legal budgets, performance metrics and value‑for‑money delivery.

Required profile

• Qualified solicitor with significant post‑qualification experience (in‑house, private practice or both).
• Extensive background advising on high‑value commercial contracts and procurement projects.
• Strong expertise in construction and infrastructure contracting, preferably with NEC3 frameworks.
• Proven ability to manage external legal advisers and associated budgets.
• Excellent stakeholder management and the confidence to influence senior leaders.
• Practical, commercially‑focused approach to legal problem‑solving.
