Senior Maintenance Engineer

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Maintenance Engineer to join a well‑established manufacturing business in Burnley. You will be a key member of the engineering team, driving equipment reliability, supporting continuous improvement, and mentoring junior engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) on a variety of plant machinery and equipment.
• Provide rapid response to breakdowns, minimising downtime.
• Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
• Take ownership of complex fault‑finding and recurring issues, applying root cause analysis.
• Support continuous improvement activities, including upgrades and process optimisation.
• Work closely with production to ensure maximum machine performance and uptime.
• Accurately log maintenance activity and adhere to health & safety standards.
• Contribute to improving maintenance processes, reliability, and asset performance.

Required profile

• 10+ years' experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
• Recognised engineering qualification (mechanical, electrical, or multi‑skilled).
• Strong diagnostic and fault‑finding capability across multiple disciplines.
• Proven experience dealing with complex breakdowns and recurring faults.
• Proactive approach with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability.
• Ability to work in a fast‑paced production environment, both independently and as part of a team.
