Senior Maintenance Technician, RME

About the role

Amazon’s Reliability Maintenance Engineering (RME) team ensures that the technology and equipment powering our fulfilment network operate at peak performance. As a Senior Maintenance Technician you will lead a shift team, drive continuous improvement, and keep critical equipment running smoothly across the EU network.

Key responsibilities

• Demonstrate and enforce safe equipment usage, monitoring teams to follow correct processes.
• Perform visual checks, condition‑based monitoring and preventative maintenance; schedule additional servicing when needed.
• Supervise shift technicians, support their development and act as the first point of contact for Reliability Maintenance Engineers.
• Troubleshoot equipment failures to minimise downtime and keep package processing on schedule.
• Identify and implement improvements to systems and standardise processes across the EU network.
• Monitor performance using tools such as SCADA and assist with administrative tasks.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical, Electrical or Mechatronics, or a completed 4‑year UK‑certified apprenticeship.
• Willingness to work flexible shift patterns, including weekends, nights and holidays.

Required skills

• Experience with automated conveyor systems and controls.
• Knowledge of electrical and electronic principles, industrial electrical, industrial controls and industrial electronics.
• Proficiency in reading blueprints and schematics.
• Understanding of preventative maintenance procedures.
• Familiarity with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) programming.
• Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and work order management.
