Senior Management Accountant – Housing (12‑18 month contract)

About the role

Spencer Clarke Group is seeking a Senior Management Accountant to join a Local Authority’s Finance Business Partnering team in Berkshire. This 12‑18 month contract supports housing services with financial management, reporting and business partnering.

Key responsibilities

• Supporting financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, year‑end close and statutory returns.
• Providing timely, accurate and insightful financial reporting to management.
• Advising budget holders, challenging assumptions and supporting decision‑making.
• Promoting strong financial governance, controls and best practice.
• Building relationships with stakeholders and understanding service needs.
• Supporting service improvement, transformation and policy development.
• Delivering financial training to improve awareness across services.
• Deputising for the Finance Business Partner as required.

Required profile

• Qualified, part‑qualified or studying CIPFA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong management accounting and business partnering experience.
• Good Excel, reporting and financial analysis abilities.
• Experience with budgets, forecasts, year‑end close and statutory returns.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Public sector finance experience desirable.
• Housing finance or HRA exposure advantageous.

What we offer

• PAYE rate of £362.19 per day or Limited/Umbrella rate of £500 per day.
• Full‑time hybrid working (up to one day remote per week).
• Contract length 12‑18 months, start ASAP.
