Senior Management Accountant

About the role

Hays Senior Finance is partnering with a large national wholesale business based in Warrington. The finance team is expanding and needs a qualified Senior Management Accountant to own the operational side of accounting and support the company’s ambitious growth plans.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and review internal monthly financial reports, including P&L and Balance Sheet.
• Review monthly balance‑sheet reconciliations, maintaining professional scepticism to spot errors.
• Control general‑ledger accounting, raise and approve journal entries.
• Analyse management accounts to ensure overheads are correctly allocated before publishing.
• Supervise and mentor junior team members.
• Support the annual external audit and liaise with auditors.
• Assist with new acquisitions, including set‑up of management accounts and control reviews.
• Produce monthly Board and shareholders’ reports with balance‑sheet analysis.
• Lead ad‑hoc projects to improve reporting accuracy and efficiency.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Experience in management accounting within an operational environment.
• Strong analytical mindset and attention to detail.
• Ability to build relationships with internal stakeholders.
• Residence within a commutable distance to Warrington.
