Senior Management Accountant

About the role

This is a senior, hands‑on position within a well‑established finance function. You will work closely with the Finance Director and senior leadership, taking ownership of the management accounts process while leading a small finance team.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare accurate monthly management accounts and related financial reports.
• Lead, mentor and support a small finance team, managing workloads and deadlines.
• Oversee month‑end activities including journals, accruals, pre‑payments and depreciation.
• Maintain balance‑sheet reconciliations and the fixed‑asset register.
• Support budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow management.
• Produce board reports and deliver insightful financial analysis for decision‑making.
• Manage day‑to‑day sales ledger, purchase ledger and payroll functions, ensuring strong controls.
• Assist with supplier and contract negotiations.
• Identify and implement improvements to finance processes, systems and controls.
• Build strong relationships across the business and provide financial guidance to non‑finance stakeholders.

Required profile

• Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA or QBE).
• Proven experience in a senior management accountant or finance manager role.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team.
• Commercially minded with a proactive, ownership‑driven attitude.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
