Senior Manager – Accounts & Taxation (UK)

About the role

Brit Balance is seeking a senior professional to lead its UK client services function. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery of accounting, tax and compliance services for a diverse portfolio of UK businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Own a portfolio of UK clients as the primary trusted adviser on all compliance and advisory matters.
• Lead preparation and senior review of statutory accounts, CT600 corporation tax returns, management accounts and VAT returns under UK GAAP.
• Monitor legislative changes (MTD, HMRC policy, Companies Act) and implement proactive adjustments.
• Identify compliance risks and planning opportunities, communicating findings clearly to clients.
• Lead, mentor and quality‑review junior and mid‑level team members, setting rigorous technical standards.
• Build enduring client relationships grounded in technical credibility and responsiveness.

Required profile

• Qualified accounting or tax professional with authoritative judgment and the ability to work autonomously.
• Demonstrated applied knowledge of UK regulatory and compliance frameworks, including statutory reporting, corporation tax, VAT and payroll/personal tax.
• Experience managing a team and delivering high‑quality client service across a substantial portfolio.

• UK GAAP, IFRS 102, FRS 105
• Companies House filing (including dormant and micro‑entity accounts)
• CT600 preparation, capital allowances, R&D tax relief, loss relief, associated companies rules
• VAT MTD, partial exemption, flat‑rate scheme, registration thresholds, HMRC enquiries
• Payroll & personal tax: RTI submissions, PAYE/NIC, director remuneration, Self‑Assessment support
