Senior Manager - IFRS 9 Accounting & Controls

About the role

We are partnering with a market‑leading financial services organisation based in Birmingham. This senior manager position will shape the future of financial reporting, offering significant exposure across Finance, Risk and Regulatory Reporting functions. You will be responsible for overseeing IFRS 9 reporting, expected credit loss analysis, governance, controls and related financial reporting deliverables.

Key responsibilities

• Lead delivery and oversight of IFRS 9 reporting activities, reviewing and challenging outputs to ensure robust governance.
• Perform detailed expected credit loss (ECL) analysis, variance reviews and driver‑based commentary.
• Provide technical review of financial and regulatory disclosures and assess impairment reporting outputs.
• Own and operate key controls, reconciliations and SOX‑related activities.
• Partner with Finance, Risk, Internal Audit and External Audit stakeholders to drive process improvements, automation initiatives and reporting enhancements.

Required profile

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
• Strong IFRS 9 accounting and reporting expertise within banking or financial services.
• Knowledge of expected credit loss methodologies and regulatory reporting.
• Experience operating within SOX or comparable control frameworks.
• Advanced analytical and data investigation skills with excellent stakeholder management.
