Senior Manager Operational Risk – Commodities & Global Markets

About the role

Shape how operational risk is understood and managed across Macquarie's global commodities activities, with a focus on physical flows. You will work within the Risk Management Group, reporting to the EMEA Lead of Operational Risk for Commodities and Global Markets.

Key responsibilities

• Provide independent oversight of operational risk for trading, logistics, storage and delivery of physical commodities.
• Engage with first‑line teams as a trusted partner and challenger, influencing risk‑management practices.
• Represent Operational Risk in governance forums and drive improvements in reporting and control design.
• Assess risks and control environments across the commodities lifecycle and support new‑business evaluations.
• Collaborate with front‑office, logistics, legal and credit teams to enhance visibility and resilience.

Required profile

• Proven experience in commodities trading, financing or physical commodities, including logistics, storage, transportation or delivery.
• Strong understanding of operational risks in physical commodity flows (inventory integrity, custody risk, logistics disruption, third‑party dependencies).
• Background in operational risk, internal audit or a related discipline within a complex, international environment.
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, able to influence senior audiences.
• Commercial, forward‑looking mindset with ability to identify emerging risks.
