Senior Manager, Tax Engine

About the role

We are looking for a senior tax technology leader to define and drive the next generation of our Tax Engine. Based in London, you will partner with product and engineering teams to shape a scalable, AI‑enabled solution that competes with industry incumbents.

Key responsibilities

• Define the vision and roadmap for Tax Engine 2.0, including content scaling, agentic workflows and regulatory intelligence.
• Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to translate complex indirect tax rules into reliable technology.
• Evaluate and integrate capabilities from leading tax platforms such as Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, ONESOURCE and Stripe Tax.
• Provide hands‑on expertise on jurisdictional tax questions while setting strategic direction.
• Influence cross‑functional teams without direct people‑management responsibilities.

Required profile

• 15+ years of experience in indirect tax or tax technology.
• Proven track record with at least two major tax engines (e.g., Vertex, Avalara, Sovos, ONESOURCE, Stripe Tax).
• Background in product‑focused tax solutions – vendor product team, Big 4 tax tech, or in‑house engine development.
• Ability to work under pressure and make strategic decisions.
