About the role

We are partnering with a global insurer to recruit a Senior Marine Cargo Underwriter for its London office. The role offers the chance to manage a diverse, worldwide portfolio of marine cargo business, supporting both new business and renewals across the UK market.

Key responsibilities

• Underwrite new and renewal marine cargo accounts, assessing risk and pricing appropriately.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and clients throughout the UK and London markets.
• Monitor portfolio performance, ensuring profitability and adherence to underwriting guidelines.
• Collaborate with internal teams to support the insurer’s growth strategy and expand market share.
• Provide expert advice on complex cargo risks and contribute to underwriting best‑practice development.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a marine cargo underwriter, preferably at a senior level.
• Deep understanding of global marine cargo markets and underwriting principles.
• Strong analytical and decision‑making abilities.
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with brokers, clients and internal stakeholders.
