Senior M&E Quantity Surveyor – Newcastle

About the role

A well‑established building services contractor is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor (M&E) to support the commercial delivery of major mechanical and electrical projects across the North East. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are commercially successful from pre‑construction through to final account, working on complex schemes in commercial, healthcare, education, residential and industrial sectors.

Key responsibilities

• Manage the commercial aspects of mechanical and electrical packages on one or more projects.
• Procure subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
• Prepare and manage valuations, variations and final accounts.
• Produce cost reporting, forecasting and budget control.
• Administer contracts under NEC, JCT or bespoke forms.
• Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities.
• Support and mentor junior commercial team members.
• Liaise with clients and the wider project team to ensure smooth commercial delivery.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor within M&E or building services.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical installations.
• Experience managing subcontract packages and cost control on construction projects.
• Good working knowledge of NEC and/or JCT contracts.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple workstreams and deadlines.
• Full UK driving licence.
• Degree‑qualified in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (desirable) and professional membership such as RICS (desirable).
