Senior M&E Technician – NHS Trust (6‑month interim)

About the role

We are partnering with a prestigious London‑based NHS Trust to recruit a Senior Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) Technician on a 6‑month interim basis. You will be responsible for maintaining critical engineering services that support patient care and clinical operations across a complex healthcare estate.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance for a wide range of M&E systems.
• Diagnose faults, carry out repairs and optimise system performance.
• Supervise specialist contractors and in‑house engineering teams, ensuring safe service delivery.
• Manage maintenance activities using CAFM and estate management systems.
• Conduct risk assessments and follow Trust Permit‑to‑Work procedures.
• Support statutory inspections, audits and compliance monitoring.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
• Participate in emergency response and on‑call rota.
• Liaise with clinical and non‑clinical stakeholders to minimise service disruption.

Required profile

• Extensive experience working with building services systems in a healthcare environment.
• Proven ability to lead and coordinate contractors and internal engineering staff.
• Strong understanding of statutory and regulatory requirements for NHS estates.
• Excellent organisational skills and ability to work under pressure.
