Senior Mechanical Design Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join a leading multidisciplinary engineering consultancy. You will work on a diverse portfolio of technically challenging projects across sectors such as healthcare, education, residential, commercial, industrial, pharmaceutical and public‑sector initiatives, all with a strong focus on sustainability and net‑zero objectives.

Key responsibilities

• Act as Project Leader on selected assignments.
• Manage mechanical engineering delivery from concept through to completion.
• Produce detailed mechanical drawings, specifications and design information.
• Carry out design calculations and support junior engineers with their calculations.
• Collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams and across different engineering disciplines.
• Attend client meetings, deliver presentations and nurture client relationships.
• Provide technical leadership and ensure high‑quality engineering output.
• Support the development of junior team members.
• Deliver work to agreed timescales and quality standards.

Required profile

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (HNC/HND with relevant experience considered).
• Chartered status preferred or working towards chartership.
• Minimum 3‑4 years of post‑qualification experience in mechanical or building‑services design.
