Senior Mechanical Engineer – Building Services

About the role

We are partnering with a director‑owned M&E engineering consultancy in Glasgow to recruit a Senior Mechanical Engineer for their Building Services team. This role is ideal for an ambitious engineer looking to progress quickly, take ownership of projects and influence the wider business.

Key responsibilities

• Interpret project briefs and develop design concepts for mechanical building services.
• Produce and review design documentation, specifications, assessment and survey reports.
• Generate detailed calculations using industry‑standard tools such as Excel and Design Builder.
• Conduct site surveys, inspections and monitor on‑site works.
• Assess existing installations and propose upgrades or new designs.
• Support and mentor junior engineers.
• Prepare technical reports and presentation material for clients.

Required profile

• Degree in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering (chartered or working towards chartership with CIBSE/IET).
• 5‑10 years of experience in a design consultancy or similar environment.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical design within the built environment and relevant technical standards.
• Proven ability to manage project deliverables and make independent decisions.
