Senior Mechanical Engineer (DJR Mark-ups)

About the role

Amentum, the Design and Engineering partner for Sellafield under the 20-year PPP programme, is recruiting a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead a small team of three or four people on the detailed design, support to manufacturing and implementation of several plant modification packages (PMPs) within the SIXEP continuity plant. The designs are mainly process piping systems, including coaxial and single-skin piping with active connections to the existing SIXEP plant, plus shielding, supports and valves.

Key responsibilities

• Lead a small team in the design and delivery of complex mechanical engineering packages, considering functionality, manufacturability, constructability and maintainability.
• Support the technical authoring and presentation of the PMP packages.
• Keep design activities on track, update schedules where needed and manage resources to deliver on time.
• Check engineering drawings up to and including manufacturing maturity.
• Check engineering documentation such as risk assessments, outline installation method statements, calculations and operation and maintenance manuals.

Required profile

• Nuclear design experience.
• Experience in producing and checking Nuclear Design Justification Reports (DJRs) and engineering substantiation.
• Experience working within a highly regulated industry.
• Experience using schedules to track activities and reporting regularly to project management.

Required skills

• Familiarity with nuclear containment and shielding principles and design.
• Knowledge of engineering standards for high-integrity piping installations and associated equipment.
