Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a global leader supplying specialist equipment to the rail, oil & gas, marine and renewable sectors. Based at the company’s headquarters and manufacturing plant in South Croydon, you will move from hands‑on tooling to a senior technical and strategic role, overseeing projects from referral through to commission.

Key responsibilities

• Lead mechanical projects, managing the full lifecycle from design to commissioning.
• Oversee a mechanical team, providing technical guidance and mentorship.
• Work on a variety of equipment including gearboxes, HVAC and thermodynamic systems.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a manufacturing and design office environment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and project specifications.

Required profile

• Qualified Mechanical Engineer with design or hands‑on experience.
• Desire to step away from the shop floor into a senior technical role.
• Ability to commute to Croydon from surrounding areas.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
