Senior Mechanical Estimator

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Estimator to join a leading national MEP contractor in West London. The role sits within the pre‑construction team and is responsible for delivering accurate, competitive tenders on large‑scale mechanical and electrical projects across the UK.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, manage and submit detailed mechanical tenders for major MEP projects.
• Analyse drawings, specifications and tender documentation to produce accurate take‑offs and cost plans.
• Obtain, evaluate and compare subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Identify commercial risks, opportunities and value‑engineering options.
• Present tender submissions to senior management for approval.
• Support post‑tender negotiations and client meetings.
• Mentor and manage junior estimating staff.
• Maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and the supply chain.
• Contribute to the development of estimating processes, systems and best practices.
• Assist with business development and pre‑qualification activities.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a Mechanical Estimator within the MEP / Building Services sector.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, plant and commercial projects.
• Excellent understanding of estimating processes, cost planning and procurement.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong commercial awareness and risk assessment capability.
• Experience on large‑scale MEP projects.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency with estimating software.
• Advanced use of Microsoft Office.
