Senior Mortgage Arrears Manager

About the role

This senior position sits within the Asset Management team of a specialist lending operation in the Square Mile. You will lead the end‑to‑end management of mortgage arrears, working directly with borrowers, brokers and internal stakeholders to protect the portfolio and maximise recoveries.

Key responsibilities

• Lead negotiations with borrowers who have defaulted or are approaching the end of their loan term, agreeing sustainable payment arrangements.
• Develop and execute exit strategies in collaboration with brokers, underwriters and borrowers.
• Oversee litigation, repossession or LPA receivership processes together with legal teams and external solicitors when restructuring is not possible.
• Commission valuations, monitor the condition of secured properties and coordinate with agents to prepare assets for sale.
• Provide regular Management Information, loss forecasting and risk reporting to senior leadership and board‑level stakeholders.

Required profile

• Extensive experience in mortgage or lending arrears management, preferably within a specialist or asset‑management environment.
• Strong analytical ability to assess borrower financial profiles and devise realistic repayment plans.
• Hands‑on approach to property‑related matters and a proven track record of delivering results under pressure.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior internal and external parties.
