Senior Motion Designer

About the role

Monzo is seeking an experienced Senior Motion Designer to shape its visual identity through dynamic motion across product, marketing and brand touchpoints. You will work within a vibrant internal creative studio, collaborating closely with product designers, engineers and the Creative Director.

Key responsibilities

• Concept, design and animate engaging content ranging from in‑app animations to scroll‑stopping ads and launch videos.
• Partner with product designers and engineers to implement motion using LottieFiles or Rive directly within the app experience.
• Collaborate with writers, designers and marketing leads to create world‑class animations for campaigns, email, web and product UI, while respecting compliance and channel specifications.
• Hands‑on creation of storyboards, animation tests and a library of core brand animations in various 2D styles.
• Maintain and evolve Monzo’s brand identity system, ensuring consistency across all touchpoints.

Required profile

• Proven track record in motion design with a strong portfolio showcasing branding, in‑app interactive animation and visual storytelling.
• Expert proficiency in After Effects and the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
• Experience importing and exporting assets in Figma and active participation in FigJam brainstorming sessions.
• Strong understanding of design principles, colour theory and typography.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to articulate complex motion concepts to stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
