Senior Nurse (General) – Care Home

About the role

As a Senior Nurse (General) in a Barchester care home you will lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver high‑quality, person‑centred care for residents with diverse mental and physical needs. You will act as a hands‑on clinical leader, ensuring safety, compliance and excellent nursing standards.

Key responsibilities

• Assess new residents, develop care plans and conduct detailed risk assessments.
• Administer medicines and uphold NMC regulations and safeguarding policies.
• Mentor and supervise nursing staff, providing clinical training and support.
• Lead quality improvement initiatives and ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks such as DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support preceptorship for newly qualified nurses.

Required profile

• Registered General Nurse (RGN) with a current NMC registration.
• Mentoring or supervision qualification.
• Proven experience in care planning, risk assessment and working with older adults.
• Strong knowledge of current clinical practice and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated leadership, problem‑solving and resilience.

Required skills

• Clinical decision‑making and judgement.
• Medication administration in line with NMC standards.
• Knowledge of DoLs/MCA and Royal Pharmaceutical guidelines.
• Mentoring and staff development.
