Senior Operations Manager – Maternity Cover

About the role

We are seeking a dynamic Senior Operations Manager to provide maternity cover for our Confex Operations Team. You will lead the delivery of medium‑large scale conferences and exhibitions across sectors such as Energy, Transport, Internet Retailing and Life Sciences, ensuring seamless execution from concept to completion.

Key responsibilities

• Manage operational delivery of conferences and exhibitions, overseeing all phases from planning to post‑event wrap‑up.
• Collaborate with the Head of Operations to shape strategy for the Tech and EnergyNet portfolios.
• Lead the event operations team, allocating tasks and ensuring schedule adherence.
• Control event budgets, forecast future needs and report financial performance to portfolio directors.
• Source suppliers, negotiate contracts and maintain relationships with venues and service providers.
• Develop comprehensive Health & Safety plans and ensure compliance.
• Drive process improvements and implement best‑practice changes.
• Negotiate costs to optimise event spend while maintaining quality.

Required profile

• Proven experience delivering high‑quality, large‑scale events in fast‑paced environments.
• Strong communication and people‑management abilities.
• Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities and travel internationally, including occasional weekends and evenings.
• Detail‑oriented with a proactive, resource‑ful approach to complex projects.
