Senior or Managing Economist Consultant

About the role

We are seeking a Senior or Managing Consultant with an economics background to lead high‑impact quantitative research and evaluation projects for public and private sector clients across the UK. Based in Edinburgh, you will work within a hybrid model, applying advanced econometric techniques to inform policy on economic development, innovation, employment, health, and the Net Zero transition.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute econometric and statistical analyses to answer complex policy questions.
• Develop economic impact assessments, Green Book appraisals and scenario‑based forecasts.
• Produce data visualisations, reports, presentations and technical documentation for clients.
• Lead quantitative‑focused projects, manage client relationships and support business development.
• Create new methodological approaches and contribute to proposal development.

Required profile

• 2:1 or higher degree in economics, econometrics, statistics or a related field (post‑graduate qualifications desirable).
• Proven experience applying econometric and statistical methods to policy‑relevant research.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong digital proficiency, including Microsoft 365.

Required skills

• R for statistical analysis and modelling.
• Python for data manipulation and quantitative modelling.
• Power BI for data visualisation and dashboard creation.
• Microsoft 365 suite.
