Senior Payroll Specialist (International Bank)

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join an international bank’s HR team in Harrow. The role will manage end‑to‑end payroll processing for both UK staff and expatriates, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and internal policies.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and update the payroll system (ADP) with new starters, leavers, benefits changes and other HR data in line with the Data Protection Act.
• Serve as the first point of contact for payroll system issues and oversee system implementation and monitoring.
• Prepare monthly payroll files, process bonuses, P11D, PSA, P60 and other statutory returns for UK and expatriate employees.
• Collaborate with the outsourced payroll provider to guarantee accuracy and timely service delivery.
• Handle employee salary queries, pension contribution schedules, loan processing and manual payments with appropriate approvals.
• Produce payroll‑related reports, reconcile payroll transactions in the general ledger, and manage control returns each month.
• Support HR with contract renewals, approval notes and additional administrative tasks.
• Assist expatriates with HMRC and NI number applications and compile information for their tax returns.

Required profile

• Proven experience in UK payroll administration, including expatriate payroll.
• Strong knowledge of payroll legislation, statutory forms (P11D, PSA, P60) and data protection requirements.
• Ability to work accurately under tight deadlines and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
