Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to lead the transition of payroll from an external provider to an internal function for a multi‑site consumer business in central London. Reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with HR, you will own the day‑to‑day payroll process for around 200 staff while supporting the rollout of a new payroll system.

Key responsibilities

• Manage end‑to‑end payroll for permanent employees and self‑employed workers.
• Calculate commissions, variable pay and TRONC payments accurately.
• Respond to payroll‑related queries from employees and managers.
• Assist the Finance Director with the implementation of a new payroll system.
• Collaborate with Finance, HR and operational teams to ensure timely, accurate payroll runs.
• Maintain payroll records and ensure compliance with current legislation.
• Identify and drive improvements in payroll processes and controls.

Required profile

• Proven end‑to‑end payroll experience, preferably in a multi‑site environment.
• Experience processing payroll that includes commission, variable pay or TRONC arrangements.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational and communication skills.
• Proactive attitude with the ability to build relationships across Finance, HR and operations.
• Exposure to payroll system implementation is advantageous but not essential.
