Senior Payroll Specialist

About the role

We are expanding our payroll bureau and need a Senior Payroll Specialist to own end‑to‑end payroll processing and client relationships for a portfolio of frontline organisations. You will work in a fast‑moving AI‑driven startup, shaping processes and helping customers navigate complex payroll requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Run end‑to‑end payrolls for enterprise customers across hourly, overtime and various pay cycles.
• Act as the primary point of contact for clients, building trust and confidence in our service.
• Identify and implement AI‑enabled improvements to payroll operations.
• Support sales teams by explaining bureau processes to prospective customers.
• Monitor KPIs, SLAs and compliance to maintain high service standards.

Required profile

• Hands‑on bureau payroll experience handling multiple clients.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation (PAYE, RTI, pension auto‑enrolment, statutory payments).
• Comfortable managing concurrent payrolls across different cycles.
• Proactive, curious and able to build processes in a startup environment.
• Excellent client advisory skills.
