Senior Peer Support Worker – Perinatal Team

About the role

The Senior Peer Support Worker (SPSW) joins the Perinatal team to share lived experience of recovery, inspire hope and promote choice for pregnant or postnatal people experiencing mental health challenges. The role involves county‑wide travel and works closely with multidisciplinary teams and external partners.

Key responsibilities

• Support pregnant people or postnatal women to maintain independence, build life skills, confidence and social networks.
• Facilitate peer‑support sessions, provide holistic advice, make onward referrals and encourage self‑management of recovery.
• Develop personalised care plans with service users and, where appropriate, their carers.
• Provide line management and lived‑experience supervision to a small team of peer support workers.
• Deliver Trust‑wide learning sessions, including Lived Experience Team Preparation workshops.
• Contribute to recruitment, appraisal and training of peer support staff.

Required profile

• Demonstrated lived experience of mental health recovery and ability to share it constructively.
• Trauma‑informed approach and strong commitment to person‑centred, recovery‑oriented practice.
• Willingness and ability to travel across the county.
• Leadership experience in supervising and developing peer support staff.
