Senior Pharmacy Support Worker - Pharmacy Services

About the role

The Senior Pharmacy Support Worker will support Primary Care Pharmacotherapy Services across NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde. Working closely with pharmacists and pharmacy technicians, you will help ensure safe and effective use of medicines for patients in GP practices and the wider community.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with prescription management, medication reviews and medicines reconciliation.
• Update patient medication records and coordinate pharmacy‑led clinics and appointments.
• Receive, triage and respond to medication‑related referrals and enquiries.
• Liaise with GP practices, community pharmacies, care homes and other health professionals to promote safe prescribing.
• Handle medication shortages, drug recalls and produce prescribing reports.
• Support service‑improvement initiatives that enhance patient care and independence.

Required profile

• Experience working with the public and in an administrative capacity.
• Previous NHS or healthcare experience is desirable.
• Good knowledge of medicines commonly prescribed in primary care.
• Awareness of legislation and best practice for prescribing, storage and handling of medicines.
• Excellent attention to detail and strong organisational skills.

• Understanding of prescribing legislation and pharmacy standard operating procedures.
