Senior Physicist - Quantum RF (All levels)

About the role

Our client, a fast‑growing quantum technology company operating in the Defence & Security sector, is looking for a Senior Physicist to join their Quantum RF team. The role focuses on translating advanced atomic, molecular and optical (AMO) physics into scalable quantum sensing solutions for RF fields.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and contribute to high‑impact research projects in AMO physics and quantum RF sensing.
• Design, model and optimise atomic systems to meet product specifications.
• Integrate opto‑mechanical components, electronics and software into functional quantum devices.
• Execute testing, validation and system demonstrations.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams in a fast‑paced environment.
• Communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to publications, patents and external engagements.

Required profile

• PhD in AMO Physics with substantial post‑doctoral or industry experience.
• Strong expertise in atomic/quantum systems, preferably Rydberg physics and RF electrometry.
• Proven ability to manipulate atoms, ions or molecules with light.
• Demonstrated capability to build and integrate complex experimental setups.
• Prior exposure to defence, national labs or advanced research environments is beneficial.
• Evidence of innovation such as patents is advantageous.
