Senior Platform Engineer (3 Month FTC)

About the role

AND Digital is looking for a Senior Platform Engineer for a 3-month fixed-term contract in Bristol. The role provides technical leadership in shaping, evolving and scaling the company's clients' cloud platform, building reusable, self-service capabilities that let engineering teams deliver software faster and more reliably. It spans architecture, engineering, reliability, automation and developer enablement.

Key responsibilities

• Define and evolve the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap of an AWS cloud platform.
• Design and build scalable, secure, resilient and reusable platform capabilities.
• Develop self-service tooling and services that improve developer productivity.
• Drive automation across infrastructure, application delivery, operations and platform management.
• Establish platform standards, engineering patterns and guardrails, and mentor engineers.
• Lead complex platform initiatives from design through implementation and adoption, and influence teams and stakeholders.

Required profile

• Significant experience designing and operating internal developer platforms at scale, with reusable services and self-service tooling.
• Experience applying platform-as-a-product principles and setting standards and paved-road approaches.
• Technical leadership across multiple engineering teams or a wider organisation, mentoring senior and developing engineers.

Required skills

• Cloud-native architecture: highly available, scalable and resilient designs, with strong knowledge of cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, networking, identity and security.
• Infrastructure as Code and automated cloud provisioning.
• CI/CD and automated software delivery, plus automation of operational processes.
• SRE principles, reliability engineering, observability, performance analysis, capacity planning and service-level objectives.
