Senior Platform Engineer

About the role

We are partnering with a fast‑growing London fintech to strengthen its Platform Engineering function. As a Senior Platform Engineer you will shape the cloud foundation, influence technical direction and deliver reliable, automated infrastructure for a rapidly scaling business.

Key responsibilities

• Design, build and maintain secure Azure infrastructure using Terraform (IaC‑first approach).
• Manage and optimise Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and container workloads (Azure Container Apps or similar).
• Create and maintain Docker images and containerised deployments.
• Develop and enhance CI/CD pipelines in Azure DevOps.
• Automate provisioning, deployments and operational tasks with PowerShell.
• Collaborate with software engineering teams to improve developer experience and platform reliability.
• Support and optimise Azure SQL environments for performance and security.
• Implement monitoring, logging and observability solutions.
• Champion cloud security, governance and automation best practices.
• Contribute to the platform strategy and mentor junior engineers.

Required profile

• Commercial experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Engineering or SRE.
• Strong hands‑on expertise with Microsoft Azure.
• Proven experience managing AKS or Azure Container Apps.
• Deep knowledge of Docker and containerisation.
• Extensive experience with Terraform and IaC.
• Solid background building Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines.
• Proficient PowerShell scripting skills.
• Experience supporting Azure SQL or Microsoft SQL Server.
