Senior Practitioner – Child in Care (Kent, Kings Hill)

About the role

Eden Brown Synergy is recruiting a Senior Practitioner to join the Child in Care team at Kent County Council, based in Kings Hill. This temporary agency position offers a hybrid working arrangement and focuses on delivering positive outcomes for looked‑after children.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a complex caseload of children in care, keeping their wishes central to planning.
• Produce high‑quality assessments, care plans and statutory reviews.
• Conduct statutory visits and ensure compliance with legislation and procedures.
• Develop and progress permanence plans for children and young people.
• Collaborate with foster carers, families, schools, health professionals and partner agencies.
• Identify and respond to safeguarding concerns and risks.
• Prepare reports for Looked After Children reviews, meetings and court proceedings.
• Maintain accurate case records in line with council procedures.
• Provide guidance to less experienced social workers.

Required profile

• Registration with Social Work England.
• Relevant social work qualification.
• Significant experience in children’s social care, especially with looked‑after children.
• Strong knowledge of legislation, safeguarding and statutory practice.
• Experience managing complex caseloads within a local authority.
• Excellent communication, assessment and report‑writing abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
