Senior Practitioner – Looked After Children Team

About the role

Our client Shropshire Council is seeking a Senior Practitioner to join its Looked‑after Children team. The role involves delivering social work assessments, care planning and statutory visits for children in various settings. You will work closely with families, foster carers and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for children.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain personal performance with support from your Team Manager.
• Undertake a range of assessments informed by direct intervention with children and families.
• Progress children’s care and pathway plans, ensuring timely access to appropriate services.
• Carry out statutory visits to children placed at home, in foster care, and in residential settings in line with CLA requirements.
• Manage cases and coordinate meetings such as care planning, risk management, placement stability, PEPs and reviews.
• Provide children and families with information and advice to help resolve problems.
• Conduct limited court work related to revocation of care orders, SGO and placement order applications.
• Participate in the team’s duty system.
• Maintain computerized records and documentation according to approved policies and procedures.
• Collaborate with parents, guardians and other professionals.

Required profile

• Fully register with Remedy for all locum positions.
• Undertake an Enhanced Disclosure via the DBS as required.
