Senior Practitioner – Social Work

About the role

Connect2Kent is recruiting on behalf of Kent County Council for a Senior Practitioner in Social Work. You will manage a complex caseload of children and families, providing high‑quality professional expertise while supporting the development of junior staff.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of high‑risk, complex cases, ensuring effective use of resources.
• Provide specialist social work knowledge to the team, including student supervision and chairing complex meetings.
• Conduct fieldwork assistance, attend court proceedings, and lead case audits and reviews.
• Collaborate with statutory, voluntary and private sector agencies to achieve best outcomes for service users.

Required profile

• Professional registration with a degree in Social Work (CQSW, DipSW or equivalent).
• Post‑qualification experience working with children and families, including systemic practice.
• Strong understanding of legislative and policy frameworks.
• Team‑player attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.

Required skills

• Systemic practice in social work.
• Knowledge of child protection legislation and policy.
• Experience with case management and risk assessment.
