Senior Practitioner – Supervising Social Worker

About the role

We are seeking a Senior Practitioner to lead the supervision of foster carers within the Together Trust Fostering Service in the North West of England. The role combines core supervising social work duties with complex fostering assessments and contributes to the strategic growth of our independent fostering agency.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct Form F fostering assessments and other complex case work.
• Recruit, train, assess, supervise and review foster carers across the region.
• Provide regular supervision to social work practitioners, support workers and students.
• Participate in the Duty and Out‑of‑Hours service, including occasional evenings and weekends.
• Deliver “Skills to Foster” training sessions, often scheduled outside normal office hours.
• Deputise for the Registered Fostering Manager when required.
• Support the development and sustainability of the fostering service.

Required profile

• Qualified Social Worker with substantial experience in fostering or child protection.
• Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and lead a multidisciplinary team.
• Strong commitment to safeguarding children and young people.
• Willingness to travel across the North West and work flexible hours.

Required skills

• Expert knowledge of Form F fostering assessments.
• Understanding of UK safeguarding legislation and DBS procedures.
