Senior Principal Biostatistician

About the role

ICON is a global healthcare intelligence and clinical research organisation. As a Senior Principal Biostatistician in Reading, you will lead statistical methodologies and contribute to the design and analysis of clinical studies, ensuring high standards of data integrity and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee biostatistics workstreams so that deliverables meet quality and timeline expectations.
• Design and implement statistical analysis plans for clinical trials aligned with study objectives and regulatory guidelines.
• Oversee the statistical analysis of clinical data and provide insights and interpretations for decision-making and reporting.
• Collaborate with clinical, regulatory and data management teams for integrated study execution.
• Mentor junior statisticians and train them on statistical methods and software.
• Contribute to regulatory submissions and publications, and take part in protocol development, including input on endpoints and statistical considerations.
• Stay up to date on industry trends and statistical methodology advances.

Required profile

• Master's degree or Ph.D. in Biostatistics, Statistics or a related field.
• Extensive biostatistics experience in the pharmaceutical or biotech industry, especially clinical trial design and analysis.
• Solid experience managing competing priorities and developing a team.
• Demonstrated leadership, mentoring and strong communication skills, able to explain statistics to non-statistical audiences.
• Detail-oriented, able to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
• Legal right to work in the country where the role is based.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of statistical software such as SAS and R.
• Proficiency in programming for data analysis.
