Senior Product Manager – AI Access to Scientific Content

About the role

Join Elsevier’s ScienceDirect team to shape how AI systems, autonomous agents and machine‑driven workflows access and create value from world‑leading scientific content. You will define and deliver strategy for machine and AI access, turning complex strategic questions into high‑impact products.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain the strategy for AI and machine access to Elsevier’s full content, selecting use cases to serve.
• Translate strategy into a product roadmap and lead delivery with engineering, choosing appropriate delivery mechanisms (APIs, agent connectors, etc.).
• Lead customer discovery and controlled pilots to validate machine‑to‑machine use cases and build business cases.
• Collaborate with legal, commercial and technology teams to design entitlement models, access tiers, metering and revocation.
• Contribute to measurement and reporting of machine usage value for customers.
• Monitor competitive landscape across open infrastructure, publisher gateways and AI platforms to inform product decisions.

Required profile

• Proven digital product management experience with strong prioritisation and trade‑off skills.
• Ability to use data and experiments to drive decisions.
• Experience owning API or developer‑facing products and shipping them with engineering teams.
• Comfortable translating technical concepts for commercial audiences and influencing stakeholders without direct authority.
• Research or scientific background, or strong understanding of scientists’ needs, is a plus.
