Senior Product Safety Engineer

About the role

The Senior Product Safety Engineer will take a leading role in product and system safety assurance across complex defence projects. You will be responsible for safety analysis, risk assessments and the development of safety cases, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety analysis, risk assessments and safety case development for complex defence projects.
• Conduct hazard identification, maintain hazard logs and perform hazard analysis.
• Develop and implement safety management systems and plans.
• Produce technical reports, presentations and safety documentation.
• Support bids, proposals and participate in internal and external safety working groups.

Required profile

• Proven experience in product or system safety engineering, preferably within the defence sector.
• Degree in engineering, mathematics, science or equivalent experience.
• Security Clearance (SC) or ability to obtain it, UK nationality and full driving licence.
• Desirable maritime or submarine experience and progress towards Chartered Engineer status.

Required skills

• Safety case development.
• Hazard analysis and risk assessment methodologies.
• Knowledge of DEF STAN 00‑056, DSA02‑DMR and IEC 61508 standards.
• Understanding of CE/UKCA compliance.
