Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter

About the role

IPS Group is seeking a Senior Professional Indemnity Underwriter to join its growing specialist insurance division in Manchester. The role offers hybrid working and a chance to influence trading performance, business growth and underwriting outcomes across a direct insurance proposition for SMEs and professional businesses.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of underwriting decisions for a range of Professional Indemnity risks.
• Review referrals and provide technical guidance on complex cases.
• Support profitable growth through sound underwriting judgement and commercial decision‑making.
• Build strong relationships with underwriting, trading and leadership stakeholders.
• Monitor portfolio performance and contribute ideas for sustainable growth.
• Identify opportunities to improve underwriting processes, customer experience and trading performance.

Required profile

• Strong Professional Indemnity underwriting experience within an insurer or MGA.
• Experience handling referral business and complex underwriting decisions.
• Good understanding of portfolio performance, underwriting controls and risk management.
• Commercially minded with ability to balance growth and profitability.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Collaborative approach and willingness to contribute beyond day‑to‑day underwriting.
