Senior Project Design Lead – Water Sector

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Design Lead to join a leading water‑industry infrastructure programme. The role offers ownership of design delivery for large, critical water infrastructure projects, working in a hybrid setting (2‑3 days on‑site).

Key responsibilities

• Operate in line with corporate health, safety, environmental and quality standards, ensuring compliance with CDM regulations.
• Lead multidisciplinary design teams, taking final responsibility for design deliverables and Totex optimisation.
• Manage scope, change control and design resources, supporting the Programme Design Manager with technical delivery procedures.
• Drive innovation by researching industry best practice and promoting digital design concepts with suppliers and contractors.
• Coach and mentor Assistant Project Design Leads and Project Design Leads, fostering staff engagement.

Required profile

• Significant experience as a senior engineer in water‑sector infrastructure design.
• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary design teams and make authoritative technical decisions.
• Strong knowledge of CDM regulations and health‑and‑safety risk management.
• Demonstrated capability to deliver cost‑effective (Totex) solutions on time and within budget.
