Senior Project Engineer – MRB (Nightshift)

About the role

Airbus Belfast is seeking an experienced Lead Design Engineer to direct technical design engineering activities for structures and systems installation. The role provides night‑shift Material Review Board (MRB) design support and leads a team of design engineers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide coverage on night‑shift for all MRB‑related design activities.
• Directly lead and line‑manage a team of design engineers, driving end‑to‑end team management, skill development, and cross‑functional coordination.
• Serve as the functional engineering lead for designated programs, ensuring commitments are delivered on schedule, within budget, and in full compliance with specifications.
• Maintain deep design engineering expertise to provide authoritative technical advice and optimise the design‑to‑manufacturing workflow.
• Conduct comprehensive project feasibility studies to evaluate technical viability and identify new aerospace opportunities.

Required profile

• Minimum BSc/BEng degree with at least 3 years relevant design engineering experience including management/project‑management responsibility, or 5 years experience with lesser qualifications.
• Proven track record of engaging and influencing senior leadership, customers, suppliers and Certification Authorities.
• Demonstrated capability in leading, mentoring and developing high‑performing engineering teams.
• Strong organisational command and high‑impact communication skills with strategic vision.
• Commitment to compliance integrity and awareness of potential compliance risks.
