Senior Project Manager – Capital Projects (Multi-site)

About the role

We are seeking a senior leader to drive a large capital programme for a major NHS organisation across multiple sites in Surrey and Slough. The role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on delivery of new builds, refurbishments and maintenance projects.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of capital projects ranging from minor works to multi‑million‑pound developments.
• Manage and develop a team of Project Managers, monitoring performance and providing coaching.
• Oversee the capital programme, including new builds, refurbishments and backlog maintenance.
• Develop estate strategy and long‑term capital plans.
• Prepare business cases, manage capital budgets and ensure financial control.
• Provide expert advice to senior stakeholders, executive boards and external partners.
• Manage consultants, contractors and third‑party suppliers.
• Ensure compliance with governance, legislation and health & safety standards.
• Deputise for the Head of Projects as required.

Required profile

• Degree in construction, engineering, surveying or a related discipline.
• Significant experience managing capital projects and estate development programmes.
• Proven senior or leadership experience in a similar environment.
• Strong financial and budget management capability.
• Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Desirable professional membership (RICS, CIOB, RIBA, CIBSE) and experience within the NHS or public‑sector healthcare.
