Senior Project Manager – Healthcare Transformation

About the role
The Senior Project Manager will join a small, dynamic Programme Management Office supporting a large change programme across NHS Borders. Working closely with senior service leads, you will drive improvement projects that enhance clinical services such as laboratory and theatre operations, ultimately improving patient care and staff efficiency.
Key responsibilities
- Apply a consistent project management methodology from initiation through delivery for multiple concurrent projects.
- Collaborate with senior clinicians and service managers to define project scope, objectives and deliverables.
- Monitor project risks, issues and dependencies, implementing mitigation strategies as needed.
- Produce regular progress reports, dashboards and communications for stakeholders.
- Lead a small team of project managers, contributing to work‑plan development and resource planning.
- Support line‑management responsibilities, including performance reviews and development of team members.
Required profile
- Degree‑level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
- Extensive experience delivering physical or improvement projects within healthcare or large‑scale transformation environments.
- Proven ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and work both autonomously and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and problem‑solving skills, with a creative approach to change.
